Your child is eligible to enrol in Prep if they turn five years of age by 30 June in the year of intended enrolment. In certain circumstances, early or delayed entry to Prep may be considered where it is deemed to be in the best educational interest of the child.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right school is a big decision for every family. At Our Lady of Good Counsel, we provide a welcoming and supportive environment where children are encouraged to learn, grow and thrive.

Our Catholic faith is at the heart of our school community. Catholic education is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, service, inclusion and justice. These values are woven through everyday school life, helping students grow into confident young people who care for others and make a positive contribution to their community.

We believe every child is unique and has their own gifts and talents. Working in partnership with families, we nurture each child’s faith, learning and wellbeing while helping them build strong friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging.

Prep students engage with the Foundation Year of the Australian Curriculum. Play, hands-on activities and discovery help children build skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, problem-solving and working with others.

You can apply for enrolment at any time during the year. We encourage families to apply early, especially for Prep.

For Prep, it is best to apply at least two years before your child starts school. Applications can be made up to five years before your child begins.

If you have younger children, you can apply for them at the same time. This helps us plan for future enrolments.

Applying early helps us stay in touch with your family. We can share updates, invite you to school events and help you get to know our school community.

Enrolment outcomes are generally advised shortly after the enrolment interview.

For Prep enrolments, families who attend an interview during the dedicated enrolment interview period in Term 1 of the year prior to commencement will generally receive an enrolment outcome by the end of Term 1.

If a place is not available at the time of review, your child will be placed on our waitlist.

We encourage families to continue with the enrolment process even if places are currently limited, as enrolment availability can change throughout the year.

Your child does not need to be Catholic to enrol. Our Lady of Good Counsel welcomes families from all backgrounds who value a faith-based education and want to be part of our school community.

As a Catholic school, our faith and values are part of everyday school life, and all students take part in prayer, liturgies and religious learning.

We welcome and respect the different beliefs, backgrounds and experiences of our families. We ask all families to support the values, mission and Catholic life of our school.

We know many families need flexible care options. Our school offers Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) on site for children from Prep to Year 6.

Our OSHC is run by Catholic Early EdCare. It provides a safe and caring place for children to learn, play and spend time with others before and after school, and during school holidays.

• Before School Care
• After School Care
• Vacation Care during school holidays

For more information about hours, fees and enrolment, please visit the Catholic Early EdCare OSHC page.

If there is no place available, your child will be placed on our waitlist. We understand this may feel uncertain for families.

If a place is not immediately available, we encourage you to remain on our waitlist, as places can become available throughout the year.

The school will contact you if a suitable place becomes available.

Tours are a great way to see if Our Lady of Good Counsel is the right school for your family. These visits give you the chance to meet staff, see our classrooms and learn more about our school community.

At Our Lady of Good Counsel, we offer personalised school tours as part of the enrolment process, providing families with the opportunity to learn more about our school and ask any questions they may have.

At Our Lady of Good Counsel, we welcome families who value a Catholic education and a supportive school community. We work in partnership with families to nurture each child’s faith, learning and wellbeing. Where the number of applications exceeds the places available, priority consideration will be given to:

  • Baptised Catholic children
  • Siblings of current students
  • Students enrolled in another Catholic school or a Catholic Early EdCare Kindergarten
  • Families who support the values and mission of Catholic education.

We encourage all families to review the BCE Enrolment Policy before submitting an application.

We want every child to feel included, supported and able to do their best. When you apply, please tell us about any learning, wellbeing, medical or support needs your child may have. You are also welcome to provide reports from specialists, therapists, doctors or previous schools.

Our Leadership and Support Team will work with your family through the Enrolment Application Support Process (EASP) to understand your child’s needs and identify any educational adjustments that may support their learning, participation and wellbeing.

For more information, please visit the EASP Flow Chart.

At Our Lady of Good Counsel, we are committed to keeping school fees affordable so families can benefit from a Catholic education.
