2021 World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated on the 2nd of April.  As this is Good Friday and we will not be at school, we will be celebrating Autism Awareness Day on Thursday 1st of April.

On this day students will be given the opportunity to wear blue to help ‘Light it Up’ in
recognition of people with Autism.

Autism is a development condition that is typically life-long.  Did you know that Autism or ASD, as it is more commonly known, affects an estimated 1 in 70 children in Australia? It affects how people communicate and interact with others. It affects how they make sense of the world and their relationships with others.  These are often accompanied by sensory issues, such as an oversensitivity or under-sensitivity to sounds, smell or touch.  All of these may lead to behavioural challenges in some individuals.

This week, the Year 2/3C class will be dedicating their assembly item to his special event. To be advocates for this day, please come along to school wearing blue on Thursday 1st April.
