Last Thursday, three teams from OLGC travelled to Gatton State School to compete in the Lockyer Zone Interschool STEM challenge. This competition offered an opportunity for students to extend and challenge themselves in the area of mathematics, science and engineering. Three teams from Year 4, 5 and 6 completed in team problem solving tasks, a mathematical team relay, puzzle wrangling using tangrams on iPads and a STEM challenge based on building a marble maze using straws. It was excellent to see all our student representatives working together collaboratively and innovatively to solve these problems as a team.
Well done to the following students for your amazing effort and displays of respect and sportsmanship on the day. Year 5 team: Tanisha L, Cooper C, JB and Jahzee V. Year 6 team: Cooper D, Riley T, Hayley U and Sienna B. A special congratulations to our Year 4 team (Brody O, Dominic R, Jessica B and Lahna H) who placed second in their division!
