2018 Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic.pngThe month of May is an awareness raising month for the prevention of domestic violence. On the television there have been ads with the message “Do Something”. Across the Archdiocese of Brisbane, the message is to “Rewrite the Story – Domestic and family violence defines the story of too many members of our community. Together we can help end domestic and family violence”. Next Wednesday evening, a large number of Brisbane Catholic Education staff will participate in the Darkness to Daylight challenge. This challenge again is an awareness raising event and participants are encouraged to work as a team to cover the 110km distance. The significance of 110 is the number of lives lost to domestic violence each year in Australia. This year, Mrs Drew and myself are teaming up to cover the 110kms alongside another team of staff from the South West Cluster. It is our hope that through joining this event we too can make a difference as we strive to promote respectful relationships right across our community.
